Welcome - I'm Kirsty Morgan
I'm an author, inspirational speaker, and former neonatal nurse practitioner with over 30 years of international healthcare experience — and I'm also someone who has lived through profound grief and complex trauma.
My work is dedicated to walking alongside those navigating loss, burnout, or the long echoes of trauma. Whether you're a nurse, a widow, or simply someone trying to find their way forward, I'm here to offer grounded support, practical tools, and honest connection.
What if, in one tragic moment, everything you knew about your life was shattered?
One ordinary afternoon, Kirsty’s world was turned upside down when a freak accident left her holding her soulmate’s life in her hands. Ian was more than just a loving partner—he was a kind-hearted force for good, a true gentleman whose generosity touched everyone around him. But despite her desperate efforts to save him, fate had other plans. Days later, he was gone.
Left drowning in grief, guilt, and the relentless question—Had she done enough?—Kirsty struggled to navigate a world that no longer made sense. The weight of loss, PTSD, and physical collapse pushed her to the edge. How do you move forward when every step feels like walking on shattered glass?
Raw, heart-wrenching, and unexpectedly laced with humour, this deeply personal memoir follows Kirsty’s journey through profound grief and the slow, painful path toward healing. In the darkness, she uncovered the power to release stress, tame anxiety, and sidestep the deep pit of depression.
This book isn’t just about loss—it’s about resilience, and it carries a message for those on the frontline of care. Nurses are so often stretched thin, emotionally exhausted, and constantly putting others first, they risk losing themselves in the process. Kirsty hopes her story will serve as a reminder that even in the most broken places, healing is possible—and that self-care isn’t a luxury, but a necessity.
This book exists as a resource for your healing journey – a reminder that even in the most broken places, recovery is possible. Â

I’m Kirsty Morgan – an author, inspirational speaker, and former neonatal nurse practitioner with over 30 years of international healthcare experience. I’m also someone who has lived through profound grief and complex trauma, and discovered that our greatest wounds can become our greatest wisdom.
My Journey – From Clinical Practice to Healing Guide
Early Career:Â My healthcare journey began in Melbourne, where I completed my nursing qualifications and gradually discovered my passion for neonatal intensive care. What started as caring for critically ill newborns evolved into a calling that would take me across the globe.
International Experience:Â My career spanned multiple continents – from Singapore’s government hospitals to Scotland’s tertiary NICUs, from the UK’s district hospitals to diverse international medical environments. I worked in some of the world’s most challenging healthcare settings, eventually specialising as an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
The Turning Point:Â In 2001, I met Ian in Edinburgh – my soulmate, greatest supporter, and the person who believed in my potential when I couldn’t see it myself. He encouraged me to pursue advanced qualifications I never thought possible. Together, we built a life filled with adventure, purpose, and unwavering support for each other’s dreams.
Building Expertise Through Experience:Â My expertise in neonatal care led to speaking opportunities at conferences across multiple countries – from the Australian College of Neonatal Nurses to international paediatric congresses in South Africa and the UK. These presentations allowed me to share evidence-based practices and learn from colleagues worldwide.
Through extensive international travel and countless adventures, I learned the fundamental importance of seizing each moment and living without fear – lessons that now inform how I guide others through their healing journeys. These experiences taught me that resilience isn’t just a clinical concept, but a lived practice.
When Everything Changed
In 2010, a freak electrical accident took Ian’s life, leaving me shattered and questioning everything I thought I knew about healing, purpose, and survival. The grief and trauma that followed brought me to my knees, eventually leading to severe PTSD and physical breakdown.
From Breakdown to Breakthrough
My journey through trauma taught me that traditional approaches to healing, whilst life-saving, can often miss the deeper connections between mind, body, and spirit. After years of struggling with PTSD, I discovered powerful techniques for releasing stress, managing anxiety, and finding peace amid chaos.
